The Board of
Directors of Sarah’s Circle established this award in 2003 in
appreciation of Elizabeth and Robert Dole’s support over the
past two decades as well as the warm bonds of friendship formed
between the Doles and Sarah’s Circle board, staff and residents.
The award is given
annually to an individual, organization or group of people who
have enhanced the quality of
life of seniors in Washington, DC.

Alan Greenspan
with the
Dole Award 2008
Alan Greenspan was for eighteen years Chairman
of the Federal Reserve Board, serving under four
presidents, until he retired in 2006. Dr.
Greenspan served the nation and its seniors by
ushering in a long period of economic stability
and as Chairman of the
National Commission on Social Security Reform.
He holds numerous honorary degrees, medals from
France and Great Britain, and is a recipient of
the Medal of Freedom, the highest award given to
U.S. citizens. Dr. Greenspan heads Greenspan
Associates, a consulting firm in Washington,
D.C., and is the author of
The Age of Turbulence
(2007).
