Social Activities

Sarah's Circle works to combat seniors' isolation by offering activities that encourage making friends and sharing new experiences.

Outings
Our new van regularly takes seniors on special outings to museums, favorite restaurants, discount grocery stores, and events sponsored for Sarah's Circle seniors by local civic groups.

Recently, seniors visited:

  • The National Mall museums
  • Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park
  • Elderfest, an annual senior festival sponsored by the D.C. Office on Aging

Celebrations
Together, seniors, residents, staff and volunteers at Sarah's Circle celebrate holidays such as Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Passover, Cinco de Mayo and birthdays.

Cultural Activities
Sarah's Circle urges a continuing respect of the diversity that makes us such a special community. Our seniors come from many countries and share their rich cultural and ethnic traditions in the form of activities and celebrations.

For example Sarah's Circle celebrated Hispanic American Heritage month with a variety of cultural programs, including an art exhibit at the Nicaraguan Embassy.
