2013 Circle of Life Honoree

The Circle of Life Award is awarded annually to an individual who has made substantial contributions to the Washington, DC community, specifically in support of eldercare services and affordable housing issues. Benefiting Sarah’s Circle, a nonprofit provider of supportive, affordable housing for very low-income, independent senior citizens for more than 25 years, the Circle of Life Award event is an opportunity for the DC community to come together to celebrate the Sarah’s Circle philosophy that old age is alive with rich possibilities.

Past recipients of the Circle of Life Award include Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board; Judith Viorst, bestselling author of books for children and adults; Virginia Ali, owner of DC institution Ben’s Chili Bowl and a pioneer during the civil rights movement in DC; and Pat Collins, Emmy award-winning journalist with DC’s WJLA-TV and native Washingtonian.

This year, our planning committee is excited to honor Colby King, a columnist for the Washington Post and winner of a 2003 Pulitzer Prize for journalism.
