It is with great sadness that the family here at Sarah’s Circle mourns the transition of dear resident, Mrs. Evadne “Miss Dolley” Wright.
Mrs. Wright had been a resident at Sarah’s Circle since February of 2004. During her time as a family member here, Miss Dolley was instrumental in encouraging resident participation in a number of activities. She was much loved by the residents, staff, community and adored by the children who visited from H. D. Cooke Elementary and Jubilee Housing.
With a flair for fashion, Mrs. Wright wowed the Sarah’s Circle family at our annual Circle of Life Gala by the taking the dance floor by storm.
During her last year with us, I had the privilege of visiting her once a week. She would send her aid down to have me to come fix the television. Usually it was set to the wrong channel so all I had to do was put it back on channel 3 and I was an instant hero. I often joked that she changed the channel deliberately just to get me to visit and she would reply, “that just may be the case deary!” This always made me feel really special. It’s amazing that I take it upon myself to make each and every resident feel special. With Miss Dolley I was always the recipient of this special treatment.
One of my greatest possessions is a painting done by Dolley in our Water Colors Class. It is my constant reminder that a truly special work of art now resides in God’s great art gallery.
We truly miss your infectious laugh and comforting spirit.
